precision drum tuning

Now that your kit is assembled, it's time to make it sound like a drum kit instead of...well, instead of how it sounds. While there are many techniques to achieve different types of sound and tone, virtually all of the pros agree that you must have even head tension to eliminate unwanted ring and overtones. In other words, the tension should be the same at each tuning lug. Sound easy? Well, due to modern manufacturing techniques and better heads, it is getting easier than it was a few years ago. However, it still requires some practice to develop your touch and ear.

I will teach you how to tune your drums during our fist visit.

You will love your new sound. I will make your drums sound better than ever!

Morrison,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for tuning my DW’s.  They have never sounded better!

Even though I have been playing for many years and thought I knew drum tuning, I simply couldn’t get my 16” floor tom to sound right with the rest of the kit.  As you saw when you arrived, I resorted to zero rings and on a top of the line DW kit, that shouldn’t be necessary.  So, I swallowed my pride and gave you a call.  I am very glad that I did.

I watched you work on my drums and although I didn’t see much difference in your method vs mine, there was a noticeable difference in the skill level.  You are truly an artist when it comes to drum tone.  Proof of that was that my “trouble tom” the 16 inch floor tom, sang out like it was supposed to almost immediately in your skilled hands.  And those hands just didn’t tune the kit to your ear either.  I appreciated that you took the time to try and understand the sound I wanted out of my kit.  The time you took going between different tunings, decay levels, and pitch was most appreciated.

I am sure that beginning drummers can learn a lot from your service and experienced drummers, like myself, can learn a new trick or two.  This was well worth the money spent.

Thank you
